Product, Promotion & Packaging: What’s in the box?

March.6th,2020

The product I chose was a silicon foundation applicator which is transparent, soft and water drop shape.

I started with typography. Considering it is a cosmetic product and its biggest function is to produce creaseless foundation application, I used blended chalk font from Illustrator and used white color to make the typography stood out more.

The color choice is nude pink because foundations are close to nude tones from light to dark.

Dieline:

I passed three designs and chosen an envelope shape at last. Because the envelope shape allows the consumers to feel the product’s texture and was easier to open up.

The bunny box: It does not look like a packaging for cosmetic products.

The diamond shape box: Too rigid for consumers to feel the texture of the jelly cushion.

Final Decision of typography and dieline: I used Illustrator shape tools to make a water drop to mimic the product itself and I used simple typography to present the key advantages that the product has. The color choice was based on the nude pink color scale.

I also made a card and insert inside the packaging to add an extra pleasant experience for the person that’s going to open the packaging.
