Texture and Shading Practice

Introduction

In this assignment, we practice mark making techniques to explore shading on a 3-D object. We need to create 4 shading techniques as demonstrated in the tutorial, and 4 shading techniques we invent or find in our research for a total of 8 shading techniques. Then we experiment our new shading techniques on 4 spheres. In the end, we draw one of the signifier objects in 3-D using a new shading technique we create to change the texture of the object to create a sense of humor and/or irony.

Summary

The most challenging part of this assignment is to use the texture that I created on a actual object and at the same time I had to make the object look realistic. I chose the first texture which I think looks like seashells. It does look ironic, but in fact I do not think I did a good job at putting this texture on the jar. What I think was not successful was that this pattern does not really show a 3D object well. I only use the different sizes to show the shades on the actual object that I saw.
