This exhibition shows me more possibilities about what distressed clothings can create. I actually like the sense of being used a lot because it tells the story of the former users and the garment itself. Re-composing these garments are collecting different stories and rearrange them in a new way. The distressed clothings are thus given their new lives and different meanings. The way of how the designers represent this clothings show how the designers comprehend the stories of the clothings and how they create their new stories and new lives of the garments. The significance of this show is to tell the audience that the perfect and well-designed clothings may not the only best clothings, reconstructed clothings also has their unique style and even more creative than the original work.
The jacket from Kansai Yamamoto attracts my eyesights at the first glance because of its interesting point of deconstruction. The suite was made completely inside out and we can even clearly see the design drawings of the original clothings. The evidence of being worn is also shown obviously in this garment. We can see the threads coming out and the attrited interior with messy furs, which is very attractive to me because the imperfection and old-fashioned sense touch me.
