Find the balance between portability and storage is really hard. I have to put the pills into my pill organizer everyday. It is really complicated and it wastes a lot of time. So it is really necessary to make it larger so that I can refill it once a week. Larger size means that they will not be portable enough. I will make the box more elastic and foldable by changing the structure of the organizer and make it foldable. I am considering to make 3 triangular prism with the angle of 30°, 30°, 120°. As we fold it, it becomes a equilateral triangular prism. It looks like a stick and it is easy to carry. We can put it in our tote and it won’t take a lot of space like a traditional pill organizer. We can also insert it into the pocket where we usually put our bottles in. For the material, using bio-plastic might is a good choice. It is light and firm. The opacity of plastic let us to see what’s inside the pill box better and tell us whether we should refill it. Plastic is waterproof so it allows us to keep the pills in a good status. The bio-plastic is renewable so it is creates positive effects for the environment. For the size, the depth of the pill organizer would be 15 centimeters and length of each side of the triangle would be 5 centimeters.
The division of “AM” and “PM” is not reasonable according to the real life situation of most people. This pill organizer tells me what pill I have already taken today and which pill I have not by dividing them into 2 separate parts and put “AM” and “PM” on it. But most pills are taken with meals. So dividing it into “breakfast”, “lunch”, and “dinner” would be a more reasonable way. I will make the organizer into 3 different colors and use different colors and logos to tell the consumers what do each box indicate. I am going to make it more practical base on the situation of our real life and make some changes to our health system.
Due to the structure of this pill organizer, the “AM” box and the “PM” box cannot be opened at the same time. The covers will stuck in the middle if we try two open both covers simultaneously. But in most situation, refilling pills will be more efficient when we keep both sides open. The current structure makes the process of distributing pills very complicated. I am going to change the structure to make the process more easy and reasonable. When the pill organizer was tiled, we can open each box without any limitations from the structure. It definitely shortens the process of refilling pills. The organization system will become more efficient due to this change.
The appearance is also something that should be taken into consideration. We all values the experience created by a product a lot and the appearance directly influences the experience. People who take pills are probably not healthy and trying to pursue a better health status. So making the appearance more youthful and energetic may help to enhance the consumers’ experience. Triangle is a modern and stable shape and the color blue usually give people a sense of freshness, reliability, and peace.
After the change of size and shape, the storage of the pill organizer is larger and we can fill it once a week. The process of refilling pills will be more efficient. The pill organizer will improve our health system by making it more convenient and less time-consuming. Also, the portable design improves our organization of necessities. When we commute or travel, we can keep the pill organizer with us and take the pill on time. It ensures our health on work and during travel. Organization system, traveling, and working are all being affected. As I changed the division from “AM””PM” to 3 meals, the pills will be arranged in a more reasonable way and it is designed to fits our habits of taking pills. And the enhance of appearance makes improvement to our fashion system.
