Design Brief
I used fabric to make the package of toolkit because the fabric gives people more comfort compares to a colder material like plastic and metal. The element of a dove symbolizes peace, hope, and love. The personal information of the owner is engraved on the toolkit so it can be returned to the owner’s family and friend as someone finds the body. Blue is a depressing color with a sad tone, death also gives me the same feeling. However, I do not want to make my kit something negative and pessimistic, so I added some delightful patterns and different shades of blue into my design.
The toolkit basically consists of three parts: Last Words, Memory Gallery, and Hospice powder.
“Last Words” is consists of a screen, a camera, a speaker, and a microphone. People can send their last words and watch other people’s last words.
“Memory Gallery” is a completely personalized tool that helps people to reminisce their best meaningful memories. As for me, I chose several pictures, my favorite candy, a sticker given by my niece, and a ring given by my aunt.
“Hospice powder” helps to reduce pain, give peaceful emotion and extend life for several minutes so that people can spend more time on using the kit and go over all these precious memories and messages.
