These blocks were made to explain Gentrification. All of the blocks have holes in the center that allow them to be placed onto the dowels. There are only two sides to each block that have illustrations on them so that when the blocks are placed onto the dowels you can only see one side of the blocks at a time. There are two sets of blocks that were stained differently. The first is a residential set, the first side are brownstones before they are gentrified. After they are gentrified there are new buildings, a fancy coffee shop and a park.

The second set of blocks are business oriented. The pre gentrification set has restaurants, a fish market, a movie theatre and a record store. Post gentrification the entire city block is transformed into an organic market, half of the blocks have the face of the building the other half is a loading dock.
