Studio 1: Memory Portrait

Emily and I worked separately on our portraits, and then met to discuss our process behind each piece.

My Memory Self-Portrait

Though we had different stylistic approaches, our portraits had a similar feeling once we started talking about our backstories. We imagined our pieces as portraying a version of our more stable, optimistic selves. Emily and I talked about what we might have been like had these events/memories not occurred.

In our combined portraits, I added the smiling sun and the balancing rocks to symbolize a sunny disposition and feeling stable (next to the horses, pun intended).
