For this project, I began by drawing a few line drawings to use for the wiring. After multiple attempts, I settled on using the first of the five images below.
Then I tried using the wire to recreate the image. I did this pretty well, but it ended up being too small, so I was asked to redo it...
Unfortunately, when I tried transferring the wire from the foamcore board to a piece of paper, the entire thing fell apart.
Oh well.
I ended up redoing the drawing on a fresh piece of foamcore and redoing it on a larger scale. While I don’t think it came out quite as good as the first version, I do believe it fulfills the requirements for the assignment.
Here are a few images of the process, as well as the final product. Because I used black annealed wires, some of the black coloring came off on the white background. I tried erasing it multiple times in different ways, but I couldn’t get the ink off.
Oh well. Still looks pretty cool. Though I’m sure there are better examples.
I went with a more stylized approach, trying to make the wire look like a scribly sketch, which is often the way I draw by hand–I think this worked out pretty well!
Hope you enjoy!
