Honestly I am not 100% please with my sculpture. The reason for this is because I honestly didn’t understand the assignment so it was hard for me to think of something more creative to do. My favorite part of my piece is the steel sponges. The material is so interesting and they look unique to me. My sculpture looks like some type of rock forms with water running through it. Material wise, my sculpture plays with the idea of hard and soft. The steel wool is supposed to be hard because its steel, but they are rather soft. The scarf is known to be something soft around your neck but it is very rough. Certain types of rock forms that you see in nature influenced my sculpture. The steel wool is placed like those rock forms along the Colorado river. Solid yet have a fluid design to them because of all the water that has passed by them. I think my sculpture is a good representation of the reading in a very literal way. It shows exactly what he was talking about in the reading. But I do believe that I could of made the piece more into a sculpture that just a 2D form.
