The pattern of the bags on my belt. They were the most challenging part in the collection.
testing out the eyelets and buttons and screws.
drawing out the stitch lines for my leg decoration.
“Run Away” is what I call this collection. Each assembles have pockets, it can be used easily while one is in a rush and would not forget things. The proposal idea was getting them hugging the body, make them feel like your skin, wear as your comfort. My seminar research paper was about people wear things with their stereotype of themselves, which is about people choose clothes through purposes, and “Run Away”‘s purpose is running away. The pocket is designed to carry things and the snap button makes them change their form to have multiple wearable ways.
I used white fake snakeskin from a fabric store as the main fabric, and eyelets, snap button and screw as attachments from Amazon.
At the very beginning, I was thinking about using leather in a typical brown, just like any other belts and bags. After I went to the fabric store, this white snakeskin just had my heart.
During the designing process, I found out it is hard to create something that has never existed or created by someone else. Also, my sewing and construction skills have improved a lot, I had never wear bags before, and after the first and second, the third one becomes much easier to construct.
If I could do something to improve this project, I would try and find a better way to attach the bag to the belt, the screw is too easy to fall out.
