Length of Experience: 90 minutes

Optimal Day and Time: Thursday, immediately after Seminar class from 3-5 pm.  

 

Preparation Materials:

To be the “Prepped and ready to go!” person, bring…

    • A metrocard with enough money for 2 rides to the Upper East Side (Public transportation information is recommended and information regarding its use is provided, but it is not mandatory).  
    • Walking shoes: sneakers, or any closed toe footwear
    • A sweater for cold, air conditioned building and windy days
    • A nude strapless bra and nude, seamless underwear for your dressing room fashion show at Gucci.  
    • Trendy, fun accessories, such as a large earrings, petit purse, or colorful scarf.  Anything that will make you feel more chic and confident as you enter the posh wilderness of the Upper East Side.  
    • Your New School ID for free entrance to the public recreation department of McBurney YMCA.  
    • Your phone and/ or camera for a stylish photo shoot at Gucci.  

 

Product Directions:

Who loves to save data? Here’s your heads up!

    • McBurney YMCA
      • Best to visit Monday through Thursday when operational hours are from 5:30 am- 11pm.
      • Check-in at the front desk using your student ID, and your guest pass, provided inside.
    • Gucci
      • Operational hours include 10am-7pm Monday-Wednesday, 10am-8pm Thursday-Saturday, and 12pm-7pm on Sundays.  
    • Central Park Zoo
      • Make sure to get there within 30 minutes of closing time, or you will not be able to enter.
      • The operational hours of the zoo on weekends are 10 am-5:30 pm and 10 am-5pm on weekdays.  To select the optimal time for you to engage in the experience, turn to the operational times of the other destinations.    
      • Do not feed our animal residents or throw things in exhibits, and stay on public paths at all times.  
      • No commercial photography allowed.
      • The general admission entrance free is $13.95, which will provided in the packaging.
    • Ladurée
      • Open from 10am-6pm on Sundays and 9am-7pm Monday-Saturday.  
      • A single macaron of your choice is $2.80, which will be provided inside along side a menu.

Materials Provided:

The “Happy Meal” includes…

  • Napkins (aka fabric swatches to touch at each location for enhanced sense of touch):
    • Mesh and Nylon: Use upon entrance into gym at McBurney YMCA  
    • Silk: Use upon entrance at Gucci
    • Vinyl: Use upon entrance into subway.  
  • American Dessert Special (aka lowfat vanilla yogurt cup).  Open upon rest at MET steps.
  • Utensils (aka a vintage silver spoon to eat previously stated yogurt).  
  • $16.95 in cash.  The bills and coins will be rolled in the form of suchi.  It will be enough to purchase a single macaron at Laduree and the entrance fee at the Central Park Zoo.  
  • Fried Rice (aka bird seed).   Throw on ground of Central park to feed birds.
  • Eggroll (aka map to locations). DO NOT LOSE!
  • Fortune cookies (aka origami dare cards). Each fortune cookie is labeled with the approaching location.  Upon opening, the card will reveal a dare that you must complete. Visual documentation of success is necessary for acquiring the most possible enjoyment of the full experience.  
  • Duck Sauce (aka Chanel #5 perfume tester). Spray upon exit from 59th Street Station.
  • Chopsticks (aka a plaid headband).  Place on head as you eat the yogurt on the MET steps with the vintage silver spoon at your lips.  
  • Coupon for “buy one, get one free” spring rolls (aka McBurney YMCA guest pass).
