The article Traveling written by Grace Paley is a moving story of a daughter with her mother on her way to Richmond on a bus and her journey. When reading this article what occurred to me most was perspective. How would the story have been different if it were told in the point of view of the exhausted mother? What about the white man, or other people on the bus? Perspective is what shapes a story, what gives it depth and characterization. Perspective is especially crucial during this time period because of the segregation and division among people in the United States.
