Art Techniques
This is a piece I created in my junior year of high school in IB Art. I decided to add this painting because I feel it shows my style of art all in one piece. I love experimenting with color, texture, layering, and mixing mediums. Originally I started with a black and white photo printed on foam board which I then painting on top of with acrylic. The technique I used was to brush on paint and then use my fingers to add “squiggles”. I’ve tried to think of a word that better describes what I do using a proper art term but this is the truest way to explain it. I have used this technique in many of my other paintings and continue to explore with different color palette. Using my nail allows the paint to lift up the ink that is underneath and create a scratched effect, adding texture to make it more interesting to look at. I also used paper towels to lift up the paint in a bigger quantity in certain areas of the bottom. I’m excited to see what other methods I learn in the future.
