For our first ‘diving in’ to volumes, we were tasked with creating heads out of plasticine we had bought for class. We were supposed to create our own head/face, however, my head didn’t particularly look like me. Something that I’m proud about with this piece is the form of the face – not the details like eyebrows and eyes, but the apples of the cheeks and the way the nose gently curves, and the forehead that slightly protrudes. I think these attributes were much more realistic than the eyes that I had created. Something that I would like to work on would be the details, and figuring out how to not just etch them in, but to use additive and subtractive pieces of plasticine while retaining a natural look.
