For this project, my partner Zeynep and I chose to look at the pro-choice and pro-life movement. This project was to take both sides of the argument and represent them in a single piece so as not to tell which side is more heavily implied. We had to take our views on the topic and put them on the side to approach this project so the piece didn’t weigh more heavily on one side or the other.
I believe that this project went really well. We found lots of photos of protesters which we utilized as more of a background for the signs we would display. Originally we had all the signs interspersed so that the viewer wouldn’t be able to tell which side the piece was on. However, after talking with Rachel – my studio teacher – we decided to have a more striking different where the left side was pro-choice and the right side was pro-life as if a line divided the page. At the top would be both a baby and contraception as if crowning the two movements.
