Bio

When I started my freshman year at Parsons I was planning to major in Strategic Design and Management, as the major would allow me to focus on both design and business, however at the start of the second semester I realized Integrated Design was a better fit for me as it wouldn’t lock me into business classes only further down the line.

Over winter break I realized that a lot of the artwork I had made wasn’t interesting to me. If a piece made a teacher happy but was personally unfulfilling what was the point? I made sure that going into the second semester I would be making every project personal to me/my interests. During the second semester, a lot of my work was around magic, feminism, ritual, taboo, and the everyday.

My two favorite projects of the year would have to be my zine for time class which is titled “A little book of Big Bad Things”. The assignment was to create a story using only one repeating image. I decided to use a still from one of my video projects of one of my friends smoking a cigarette inside. I wanted the book to point to taboos, like smoking inside/a woman smoking/being a woman making your own choices. I also wanted the book to be simple and have the rhythm of a children’s book.

My other favorite project from the year would have to be my studio 2/seminar 2 final because I got to dive fully into a topic that I found intriguing: magic as a feminist force and how it has evolved over time. This project was really exciting because a lot of the design was guided by research, so I felt super confident when it came to my studio project.
