My point of Inquiry is clear, I am working on the topic of Batik, exploring new medias to showcase Batik and modernizing Batik motifs in order to preserve it in a new and modern way. I am trying to find a way to preserve batik in a unique approach by using a new media- a light form which would be a new finding and innovation in the Batik world. I have a strong idea because I think that people do not think of new ways to explore batik other than using fabric or cloth, my idea to use another media to show batik as a cultural heritage goes out of the box and the ordinary. My inquiry on Batik is enough to be able to create new artwork with Batik as its theme, I also researched probable materials to support my final project.

I am challenging myself by trying out new medias, going outside the normal way of showcasing batik. Within this project, I will be able to accomplish it, even though I would have to do a lot of experimentation, face failures and do a lot of research along the way.
The studio project on making Batik lighting is tied to my research, by researching on Batik’s history, motifs, background, I would be able to create something new and find inspiration to create new motifs from the existing traditional pattern. My research on seminar addresses those things above, which would fuel my studio inquiry. My proposal and Visual culture are connected since Batik is a form of visual culture, it communicates Indonesian heritage and values through motifs that are seen visually. My project important/relevant because  It showcases Batik in a different way rather than in Fabric, therefore being a new media to preserve batik as an Indonesian culture, reaching more users.

I am probably using Acrylic or Wood as a material, I have worked with both of the materials but never with laser cutter, I usually cut them using saw of Olfa knife, however it is totally possible to, I have never used a laser cutter before and I am excited to learn and try using it, even though I would need to experiment lots of times.
