Figure Drawing

For the past two weeks, we’ve worked with different models who posed for us in class. Drawing from life is always a challenge but it is definitely my favorite thing to draw. When you draw from life and not from a picture the drawings have more life, you capture a moment from reality and that shows. Some of the poses were a challenge because we only had two minutes to draw them, others were five or ten minutes long and that was easier. It surprised me what I could do in two minutes because it’s such a short time, so you just have to work with big shapes and general forms, despite that, I think they have a lot of movement and spark. I really want to do more of these in the future.

After going to Med School last year, I feel that I can apply my anatomy knowledge when drawing the human body and that makes it so much easier to get a realistic body shape. Working with the models has made me miss the anatomy classes I had las year and I would love to involve the two things more often.
