After working with paper polyhedrons for a long time we had to apply what we learned to this big project. The task was to design an object, more specifically a toy. Its shape had to be inspired in one ore more polyhedrons and it had to open up in some way to reveal a surprise. Also, we had to use 2 or more different materials.
We spent a lot of time designing the object and how we wanted it to create that element of surprise. After some thinking, I chose to use wood and metal to make a hidden dodecahedron inside of a metal shape formed by sheet metal building a 5 sided pyramid in all the dodecahedrons’ sides. The metal parts were attached together this way making 2 solid halves that contained the dodecahedron perfectly inside.

I had a lot of fun doing this project, I had never actually worked with metal and wood in this way and I loved learning how to use everything in the woodshop in order to make this project happen.
