Final cast project

For our last project, we had to create a negative foam board cast that would be a 5×5 box to cast an abstract shape inspired by architectural designs we visited in Manhattan. It was very hard to be able to design the object we wanted to obtain and put those thoughts into making the negative in the box but I knew I wanted to connect some of the sides of the box to create windows in the final cube shape.

When we poured the plaster in, I chose to tilt my box so that the structure would have two different colors divided by a diagonal line. Also, I wanted to experiment with the black I was using to make some kind of marbled effect to give the surface more texture. After it was dry I had to take the foam apart and dig in the wholes in the cube to get it out.
