After working with the map and finding a way of simplifying and abstracting its elements I found that this exercise is very useful when designing in general. The map didn’t lose its function even though it’s very simplified and it made it easier to see a general view of the city. I found myself questioning the purpose of the map in order to choose the objects I should keep and the ones I should ignore or modify, and found out that a lot of what was in the original map wasn’t at all necessary to understand how the city looks and where the streets are.
