Class Exercise- ‘The Wallet Project’

For this class exercise, we had to talk to a partner about what would be an ideal wallet for them and create a model of it using the gathered information. I worked with Liz for the exercise.

I really liked this exercise because it gave us a clue of what it is to work and design things for someone in particular. It’s very different to design for yourself than for another person because they might see things in a completely different way. It was a bit hard to follow all of Liz’s requirements because she wanted the wallet to be thin and small but at the same time have space for all her things and I had trouble coming up with a wallet that could in a way accomplish both since they are a bit contradictory.

It was very interesting to do this as a quick exercise in two classes when in reality coming up with a design that works for your client is a very long process. The exercise reminded me a lot of the chapters of the design books we have been reading and it was useful to have read about how the process works before doing the activity.
