The project is about to make a pair of shoes with one single piece of fabric, leather or other material that can be used in Laser Cut.
I design the shoes as simple as possible but not lack of the design.
This type of shoes I designed are meant to be comfortable and match everyday outfit. I chose the second one at last.
I first decide to make the shoes with felt, which is a thick and dense fabric. Felt is a perfect material for laser cut, since the edges is burned due to the laser cut and make a good effect. For the pattern design, I decided to layer the fabric for the bottom of the shoes. However, I made mistake on the shoe top. There was not enough space for my partner, who will wear these shoes, to fit in. So, my professor, Ms. Paskow suggested me to cut holes on the bottom layer to give more space for the feet ( as showed on the bottom photo). I also cut holes to let the leather stitch go though all the layers.
