Contemporary Reliquary & Wood Joints

For this project, I decided to make a box for my Chinese medicine balls. To do this, I used thin strips of walnut, nailed together using small fabric pins. For the two circular cutouts on the inside, in addition to the markings on the top, I used a laser to cut out and engrave respectively. The Chinese words on the top of the box are the traditional characters for “Baoding Balls”, another common name for the medicine balls.
