Assignment #10- Orthographic Projection

-Assignment Intro-

This assignment instructs us to draw an orthographic projection of our individual daily objects step by step and list out the particular measurement data as information needed to construct one the same object.

-Process-

-Step One

Mock-up by pen on sketchbook

As instructed, I also took photos of this pen of mine from the front(back is negligible since the front are deductively the same), the side(one is enough since the right and the left are the same), the top and the bottom:

Photocopies and tracing board:

I took photos on an A4 paper of my pen and make the paper fill up the whole photograph so that it will be printed exactly the same size as the original pen:

-Step Two

The final product picture

I measured the detailed data of this pen and placed it where I had taken the measurement instead of draging the dash line and mark it on the side because othewise it will be quite crowded for there are tons of overlapping part on a pen, while my method can make sure the clearness of the whole graph.

-Reflection-

I learned the protocol to draw a precise orthographic drawing, and when the numbers are listed, it is so clear that people can make another the same pen by all my measurements shown above. To measure the length of each part of this pen, the same-sized printout really helps. It is quite time-consuming though, not like the professor said a one-hour work 🙁 and I would say this is quite a challenge to patience, besides, the inch-centimeter thing was killing me.
