TimeMap

My piece was inspired by the way time passed during quarantine. I started to notice things I had not before, like the position of the sun through my bedroom window. I drafted and thought of ways I could iterate my ideas. I ended up deciding to show the sequencing of the sun across the sky and the changing colors. I wanted to convey this idea through a 2-dimensional medium, I ended up choosing watercolor, oil pastel, and colored pencil. The process for this project was more fluid, I changed colors and layouts as I was going. I felt that if I did a piece in a flexible medium it would be fine.

I first started with a sketch of the piece in pencil. Then, I laid down a layer of watercolor over the individual sequences. I then added details with colored pencils and oil pastels. I then added the times and date, which was something I hadn’t planned of doing. I ended up truly finding that the piece conveyed my ideas well and I enjoy it, I did end up editing the watercolor digitally to make it convey what I wanted it to. I personally think this TimeMap was successful for me.
