When this project was first introduced, I thought of nature. I had some time to think and explore my ideas and one thing that came across my mind were bees. Bees act like little workers that come and go from their beehive to flowers. They rely on pollen as a protein source and on flower nectar or oils as an energy source. A honeycomb is a mass of hexagonal prismatic wax cells where it contains their larvae and stores of honey and pollen.
Materials:
- MIRROR BOARD
- SUPER GLUE/GORILLA GLUE/HOT GLUE GUN
- 20 GAUGE WIRE
- PLIERS
- GOLD CHAIN
- HOOK HEADS
- PAINTBRUSH
- GOLD POWDER
- SHEETROCK + TAPE
- PAINT PRIMER + WHITE PAINT
Concept:
- CREATE A BEEHIVE → BY CONNECTING HEXAGON/HONEYCOMB SHAPES
- INCORPORATE A DRAPING EFFECT → INSPIRED BY PETRA BLAISSE
- DID NOT WANT TO USE A SIMPLE HEXAGON SHAPE → CHOSE TO ATTACH CHAIN FROM ONE SIDE OF HEXAGON TO ANOTHER
- DRAPING → USING UNEVEN LENGTHS OF THING CHAIN
Problems and failures:
- CHOOSING THE RIGHT GLUE TO JOIN WIRE TOGETHER
- STICKING THE GOLD POWDER
- APPLYING THE HOOKS ON THE CEILING AND WALLS
How can I improve
- IF I HAD MORE TIME…I WOULD MAKE THE BEEHIVE MUCH BIGGER
- ADD MORE CHAINS AS THE DRAPING
