Summary of Color Walk and Visual Response

Before I begin my journey of color walk, the first color that pops into my mind is green. Whenever I think of the most impressive thing about color, I would always say blue. But this time, I want to make some change and start with something that is unfamiliar with my experience. I took my first starting point in front of a shop window, and there are few bunny statues wrapped around scarfs of green ribbons. It’s a soft translucent fabric which covered by tiny paillette on top. And there are some easter eggs right next to the bunnies. The texture of the eggs is closer to the rough stones because there are little bumps and hollows on the surface. The I followed the directions of the street and heading to the green object (not include traffic signs). I passed by the Central Park. There is one type of pine tree is hanging down its branches; I was excited about the heavy grayish green, and it looks like Monet’s painting, vague and misty. Then I kept walking through the street, this time I spotted on the buildings’ roof. It’s the pale green which reminds me of Rococo. I walk along with passing by the shop windows again. A lovely furnished green vase grabbed my attention. It did not have any ornaments, but the blue glaze of the vase itself is glowing under the light. Finally, I navigate myself into the Neue Galerie. I saw a potted rose sets right next to the checkerboard stairs. The leaves were looking perfect with few reds in the pot. The Jasper leaves looked like they’re coated oil, like the olive leaves. I went upstairs to go into the room with artworks. Some of them used lots of green, and in others were blended with a variety of colors. I leave the gallery and went to a clothing store, and I found a nail polish with pinkish green. As seen, the green that I discovered on this trip are pretty much used for decorations, besides the leaves of the pine tree and rose. Colors sometimes help us to coordinate the surroundings, and also make us aware of the details of our life. I barely paid attention to green colors, and the journey reminds me to regain that appreciation of color.

This is the exercise we did int the class to discover and develop color wheels. Everyone brought objects of 3 in 8 colors, then we create our little color wheel. Later in the class we collect everyone’s colored object and composed a huge color wheel which contains the change of color’s value.
