I wanted to map out the reasons tourists from all over the world visit Stonehenge. I illustrated crowds of people coming from all directions to represent them coming from all over the world. I matched 2 different colors with 3 different theories as to why people might be interested in the experience.

Yellow represents the interest in that it is a healing site. There is a myth/theory that it was a pilgrimage for healing during the Neolithic times. So, many people visit to heal themselves. This could be a physical wound or emotional.  Yellow to me means happiness, and happiness connects most with healing for me.

Red represents the interest in the theory/study that the rocks have acoustic properties. My cousin’s only reason for wanting to visit was because he has an interest in music and science and heard that. Also, the band Black Sabbath has an album cover there, so that might pull fans to visit.

Peach represents the interest in history and ancestry. English descendants might visit to feel a connection with their family tree. I had a very personal intimate experience connecting with my grandma there, so I can see why people would want to visit for that reason. It’s history is also extremely interesting and mysterious. There are many unanswered questions around the site and the people that lived there during prehistoric times.

I used these three colors to resemble heat because the stones are most known for having a special energy to them.
