I became interested in public art’s role in a community. I would like to find out what makes a project successful in delivering its message and purpose to a community.

(What strategies are commonly used to engage the audience?)

(What does the art serve as to the audience? -tool for education, tool for reflection, spread awareness)

(How can public art initiate change?)

(How public’s interaction with a project affects their reactions. message remains in mind after they leave)

…In order to better understand what public art says about the community it’s in, and how it can influence an environment and demographic. My plan to find the answer, is to research and analyze past and current public art projects, and draw connections between common characteristics. I want to analyze what the give to the space and how the public interacts with the form. Also, research past public art projects that brought forth a change in the community.
