For this assignment I started off observing activity in Union Square. I noticed two women sitting at a table catching up. They looked well put together, cleanly dressed. I noticed their dog basking in the sun, sleeping and it looked like he was smiling. This made me think of doing a comic on the dog’s dream. I thought it’d be funny to contrast the personalities I assumed the women had with a more rebellious, old man alcoholic personality. So, I made the dog’s dream a night out at his favorite dive bar, Lucy’s. Throughout this project I noticed that I really enjoy making these little comics as a reflection of my relationships and experiences. In this small little funny comic, I wanted to comment on the idea that people may not be exactly what you’d assume, and there are many different personalities in one person. I also learned that I really enjoy adding music to my drawings because after making the movie I saw that as the final product more so than the drawing. I really want to continue making these little shorts for fun, and have a lot of ideas for more.
