Assignment:
Create a multimedia webpage with links exercising html and css coding learned from lessons. Concept open

Reflective spaces- places in the city to sit and clear your mind when you need a break from the city
Explore 3 parks
-Tompkins Square

Page Designs
My webpage explore three public spaces in NYC as reflective spaces. It visually depicts these spaces through a historical lens, a documentary lens, and a more personal imaginative lens. I use mixed media to manipulate photos and depict how I see the space from my perspective. The layout is more abstract than a literal, objective documentation of these three locations. There are links that take you to more informational sites, but my main content is more interpretive. I also explore one artist I met in the park with my own images then a link to his website.
Self assessment:
Overall, I had a lot of trouble with this assignment. I am not the best at coding and found it hard to grasp many of the concepts. That being said, I am happier than I expected with the outcome of the site but I think it was more because I focused on the content and went with a simple layout. I enjoyed making the links to different pages and would continue doing that if I had more time. For example, I would probably like to continue the site having similar profiles to Sir Shadow. Maybe collect found notes or lost items in the spaces. I think it would be an interesting way of achieving the spaces while also manipulating things to express my personal perspective of the space. I also found the feedback from the critique extremely helpful, and agreed with the comments about better organizing the information. Maybe it would have been interesting if I had the original image, then when you click on it it changes to the manipulated, mixed media version. There are lots of things I would like to explore after seeing everyone else’s sites. I was really excited and interested in the content and will hopefully continue to explore this. I really want to try to get better at coding, but I also have accepted that it is definitely a weakness of mine.
