I used compressed charcoal to show depth in my drawing. After sketching a rough outline of the composition, I started to lightly build layers of charcoal. Using the sides of the charcoal gave the drawing a smooth look and using the edges gave it a rough, outlined look. I left areas of the objects lighter, giving the charcoal drawing more depth and dimension. I placed the two bottles on the left side to balance the composition with the plant on the right. Including the two bottles on the left side improved the movement of my piece.
