I am interested in exploring the community of children and childcare services throughout New York City. I think that this topic is intriguing due to the fact that growing up in a city like Manhattan can have many effects on the development of the youth as opposed to them growing up in an area similar to a suburban neighborhood. I want to know more about how day cares, primary schools, elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools are conducted in a city environment in contrast to rural. In addition, I want to know the demographics of the children growing up in New York since the city itself is made up of people from many different parts of the world all coming together in one place. I also would like to know what ways could the system of childcare and education could be changed and or improved to make a safer and well-rounded environment for kids to be able to grow and learn in. I am fascinated to conduct field research and learn more about the systems currently in place and the improvements that could possibly be made to create a better living space for children growing up in this urban setting.
