I was drawn to the subject of color in the context of psychology because it amazes me that by simply experiencing a color, it can change the way a person feels or behaves. I have heard of specific colors such as pink, that have a calming effect and have been implemented to help calm down people such as those in youth detention centers. I found my sources mostly in the library by searching the database for color psychology sources. When seeing Cornell’s work, I was inspired by the style and the way he mimics another piece and or idea and translates it into his own artwork. He has multiple versions of artwork in the form of boxes, to visually recreate the ideas behind Gris’ work and add his own style and opinion by using his own details and carefully thought ideas. When paying homage to Gris’ work, he created twelve boxes to reflect the visualizations of another artist. I am using the facts and information from others throughout my research and incorporating it into my box. This is my way of gaining inspiration from others work and creating my own take of it. I am using the color pink inside the box to show how it can have calming effects on the human brain, and I am using a representation of a human brain and suspending it inside the box to show that the brain is impacted when being surrounded by a specific color. I am using reflective material on the back of my box to show how the colors reflect on how our brain works when viewing colors.
