These were my initial images taken for the project, however in class I got the feedback that inspired me to create the series of six with two on each page.
Final Images:
My project is about the study of color psychology and the impacts they can have on people. I focused on the colors blue and pink, however, for my studio project I just solely focused on pink. Since the shade Baker-Miller pink can have calming effects on the brain, I decided to do a photoshoot where I let the color influence my model. I did not tell my model that the color backdrop was supposed to calm her down, however, after a few minutes her poses became more relaxed and natural rather than energetic and smiling. For my images, I added lights, because my research also showed that light can have strong impacts on the brain and mental health. I tried many different poses, styles, and compositions to make a complete photo series while also showing the calming effects of Baker-Miller Pink.
Thesis: There are various psychological effects different colors can have on the human brain and they change the way that we feel in the context of mental health. Interacting with a specific color can subconsciously help mental health in a positive way, and should be applied more in everyday use.
My studio project is tied to my paper, however I strayed away from the use of the color blue in my photo series. I wanted to focus solely on the calming effects of the baker miller pink shade because I found it easier and more direct of an argument to create photographs based off of.
My bridge 3 box showed the pink color inside the box and had a suspended brain in a cage to show the impacts of color on health and mental health:
