Bridge 2: Process Documentation Part 2

 

The original advertisement is a poster found on the street in Noho and it displays the Migos Culture II album. It uses the artists and no words to advertise the album rather than their name or the d]name of the new release. The only words used are “available now” to mark the release of the new music. It uses a simple yet bold red background to add contract to the artists who are dressed in all black clothing. There is a use of repetition due to the fact that the poster is placed next to another exact copy, to become more eye-catching.

My redesign will be a radically different platform because all three of my new advertisements will be digital. This will be more successful in reaching its younger target audience and make it more relatable to those who will be most likely listening to their new music. The key to this generation is accessibility through social media. I have chosen two different platforms, Instagram and Snapchat. I am creating two Instagram advertisements, one is a still that shows the album cover itself, and the other is going to show a video that can also play a part of one of their new songs to advertise the music itself and not just the image of the album cover.  These ads would hypothetically be “sponsored” on instagram, which means they would appear on your feed and will be very accessible and effective. My snapchat ad will be a filter that anyone can use and put on their own face. This will not only advertise the new album to them, but they can easily send it to all of their friends or put it on their story, making this ad extremely interactive.

 

This snapchat filter is a deconstructed representation of the album cover for Migos. It has the glasses worn by the group members to be placed on the face of the snapchat filter user. The three artists are featured on the bottom and the graphics of the roman numeral two and the birds from the cover, in the top left corner. I used the red color with a lowered opacity in the background and I would ideally have music playing in the snap if you were to take a snapchat video. This advertisement makes the new music very accessible to its target audience and allows everyone to not only use it for themselves, but share it with ll of their friends, making the consumer an advertisement themselves.

 

This Instagram advertisement is a “sponsored” ad that will automatically appear on people’s Instagram feeds. This makes it hard to ignore and very accessible to the target audience. It simply shows the album cover, but because the user says “Migos” so you could easily click on their name and it takes you to their page which can provide a lot more information on the new music.

This advertisement is also an instagram ad, however, it is a moving video with the soundtrack of the new music playing in the background. This helps to advertise the new album, because it is difficult to show new music only visually, you need to also hear some of the music to pull you into wanting to hear more. I also decided to have the colors in the background change from black to red and flash to get the viewers immediate attention.

I am 18 years old from Long Island and have been interested in art and design my entire life. I have years of experience with photography and design and I am majoring in Communications Design. I love exploring new media and learning new ways to create and appreciate art. In the past I have completed freelance photography and design work. I have photographed for varying companies and events and have created custom album cover art for up and coming artists. I would love to continue creating and exploring deign.
