Question 2

In the text Defining the Object of Study, John Walker discusses the problems that design historians have had in defining “design” due to its ever changing and growing field. Why does the author spend so much time trying to argue or make sense about what past historians thought when the word is really just a giant umbrella term currently? It seems to almost be a moot point. Design is in the eye of the designer, is it not?
