BIRTH OF THE WORLD

COMPOSITION AND ABSTRACTION: JOAN MIRÓ

MoMA’s Miró exhibition gave me a sense of freedom in art–the show showed a progression of his work from a realist-expressionist approach to his later abstract works, all which upheld an insteresting compostional sense. One painting in particular held my attention, which molded his own personal style with the typical academic portrait of the time. The piece was described as a visual joke.

ABSTRACTION OF THE FIGURE: RUFUS TUREEN

After the MoMA exhibition, the location of the of the Rufus Tureen show was sobering. It gave me a realistic sense of galleries outside of the bigshot world. The compositions are fun to look at and the colors are eye catching.
