Project #1: Visual Brand Concept – Week 1

Overview: Our job as brand designers is to bring a brand to life. Every brand touchpoint and message needs to resonate with the brand’s personality. In this assignment, we will transform a brand strategy into a visually cohesive brand identity system.

Client 1: 

Who: A men and women’s shoe company for the urban professional. 

Product characteristics: Sustainably made, stylish yet functional and comfortable

Audience: Men and women who live and work in urban environments, approx 25-40 years old

Competitors: Cole Haan, Everlane 

Strategy: Brand x is a modern shoe company for urban professionals that believes in going the distance… in the right footwear.

Week 1:

Immerse yourself in your brand. Think about everything you know about the brand and the surrounding marketplace. 

  • Develop 3-5 names for the brand
  • Develop 3 different visual mood boards for your brand identity. Consider how the brand will come to life. What will it look like? Consider the colors, typeface, and graphic system.  
  • Print out your mood boards to review in class.
