Integrative Studio 2: Bridge 4: Making Research Plan Part 1

My research questions:

How can way finding help make a museum exhibit more visually engaging to the visitors?

How can a museum exhibit space be organized in a specific way to insure the exhibit’s content most accessible to its audience?

Five Precedents:

  • Look into 3-4 different museum exhibits that have been very successful and meaningful to different audiences. Understand why and the message that it is trying to convey by the layout, the pieces, and the idea
    • Manus X Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology
    • Cindy Sherman: Once Upon a Time
    • From the Collection: 1960s
    • Age of Empires: Chinese Art of Qin and Han Dynasties
  • Set up a meeting with Radhika Subramaniam(Director/Chief Curator of the Sheila C. Johnson Design Center)
  • Steps of curation that need to be taken in order to create a successful exhibit-http://www.jstor.org/stable/42650668?Search=yes&resultItemClick=true&searchText=exhibit&searchText=design&searchUri=%2Faction%2FdoBasicSearch%3Facc%3Don%26amp%3BQuery%3Dexhibit%2Bdesign%26amp%3Bfc%3Doff%26amp%3Bgroup%3Dnone%26amp%3Bwc%3Don&seq=2#fndtn-page_scan_tab_contents
  • Relating to the manipulative strategies- the psychological aspect of it http://journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1177/001391659803000502
  • Parsons Gala- I can use that as an inspiration and talk to people in the Parsons Senate on the process and how they decided on the theme and pieces because the gala is similar to creating my own exhibit
