Circle Line Field Trip-Reflection

On a saturday morning, we went on a boat trip starting from the Hudson river and all the way down the East river and Brooklyn. I learned about a lot of environmental organizations working around New York City to treat the contaminated water. The most intriguing part of the trip was when we visited the Newtown Creek. It is the largest waste water treatment center of New York. When you look from outside, you  can see two egg metal shaped pieces. Those are the treatment centers. The speaker highlighted the fact that it can be counted as a monument of New York which is really interesting. It is actually true because it is not even close to a water treatment location. The design elements make it seem like a great piece of art. It encouraged me to think about the aesthetic details of a piece even more thoroughly when I’m designing something really specific just to get the most in terms of function and benefit. Something can be really successful while being both functional and appealing.
