In this piece that I created for the visualize your senses project, I decided to chose a memory from when I was a young child. My first cat, Jonesy, was a large 20 pound cat who was energetic, loving and athletic. But while we were gone, he’d jump on the countertops in our kitchen and lick our butter dish. At just 7 years old, Jonesy died of a heart attack in his sleep. I chose to portray the sense of touch and sound of the butter wrapper which reminds me of this memory. I wanted to create a piece that was a bit humorous and playful that captured Jonesy’s personality, but in the end what also got the best of him. This piece is made of cut paper and cardboard to create a 3 dimensional piece.
