Here I have tried to formulate a couple of topics and questions with a motivation relevant to the neighborhood that I’m researching, Red Hook / Smith – 9th Street, oriented to understanding both the past and possible future of the neighborhood.

Topic: I am studying people,
Question: because I want to find out how they interact with each other,
Significance: in order to help my reader understand how the community is divided, or merged.
2.
Topic: I am studying available Green Space,
Question: because I want to find out what resources the neighborhood have at their disposal,
Significance: in order to understand what resources the residents have available, and if it is something that is needed.
3.
Topic: I am studying the needs of the majority of the residents,
Question: because I want to find out what they are missing in their neighborhood,
Significance: in order to make the residents life easier and more accessible.
4.
Topic: I am studying the history of art,
Question: because I want to find out how immersed and responsive the community is to art,
Significance: in order to help my reader understand how the community might respond to an art intervention in the neighborhood.
5.
Topic: I am studying the history of the commercial activity of the neighborhood,
Question: because I want to find out why the neighborhood have its businesses it has today,
Significance: in order the help my reader understand how the future might evolve in the neighborhood within the business sector.
