Final Prototype + Revised Proposal and Intended Engagement

Prototype

To view and interact with my prototype click on this link

Above is a prototype of a website dedicated to the submission of exhibition proposals that would enable the Social Justice Hub to promote its presence and reinforce its importance. I attended a Social Justice Committee meeting where the members were revising a proposal that Carmela Wilkins, a New School Student, sent to them. The project was approved, however the lack of a standardized system to keep this sort of initiative going within the community was commented upon. If the presence of work relating to social justice is to continue in a sustained way there would need to be some sort of system to enabling people to submit work.

Proposal

How would this design potentially get into the hands of those who would most benefit from it.

  • Who would ideally engage with this object/ project?
    • Ideally all individuals on campus who visit the Social Justice Hub would interact with the outcome of this project, which would be the exhibited work promoting social justice in a sustained way within the Hub.
    • Those who would specifically interact with the website I plan on creating would be; any student, faculty, staff or external artist who would like to submit their work, as well as a Social Justice Advisory Board who would be in charge of approving the proposals and booking the space.
  • Under what conditions?
    • The artist submissions could be prompted by advertisement within the Social Justice Hub, around campus or even at future events related to the exhibition of new works.
    • The potential Social Justice Advisory Boards would interact with the system at a monthly meeting as part of their discussion. Where proposals could be presented and selected.
  • When?
    • Ideally this website would be a tool that is used consistently for the submission of exhibition proposals.
  • How?
    • Through the advertisement of this website within different groups existing in the Social Justice Hub.
  • How will you find this audience?
    • I will find this audience by attending meetings held at the Social Justice Hub.
  • How will you convince them to use this thing?
    • When I was sitting and listening at the meeting these were issues that were identified and the need for someone to put it together was evident.
  • How will they know how to use it?
    • The website will aim to be used in an intuitive way, mimicking the way one would navigate a website and submit information, by using a landing page and form.
  • How will you reach the scale of audience desired to have a meaningful impact?
    • To reach the scale of audience desired to have meaningful impact, I will go to meeting at the Social Hub directly.

Intended Engagement

How will you engage your intended audience with your prototype as a test run?

  • What is your goal for the test run?
    • My goal is to have people who would be interested in using this website test out the prototype and give me feedback.
  • Who would ideally engage with this object/ project?
    • Students, faculty, or staff who would be interested in submitting a proposal for and exhibition.
    • A member of the Social Justice Hub who deal with art work and exhibitions within the space.
  • Under what conditions and How?
    • By going directly to meetings I intend to engage people who would authentically be interested in using my design and get them to test it. If they are comfortable with being recorded afterward to collect their feedback the I will record them, otherwise I will ask them to answer a few question in writing.
  • When?
    • As soon as possible.
  • How will you find this audience?
    • Attending meetings.
  • How will you convince them to use this thing?
    • Express the opportunity to create meaningful work that could be exhibited in the Social Justice Hub.
  • How will they know how to use it?
    • In a website platform the experience should be more or less intuitive.
  • How will you reach the scale of audience desired to have a meaningful impact?
    • For the purpose of a test run I will work within network of the social justice hub.
