Reflection on Travelling

Paley brings up a crushing issue within the history of America. Through her article about bus transportation it shows an example of how the country was not what it claimed to be, a land of equal opportunity and freedom. Throughout this time, race segregation was high and there were no exceptions, neither legally nor socially. Shown apparent in this article when a woman feels uncomfortable sitting in the last “white row” on the bus, so she stands, even though she’s with child. and although she only gives her child to the woman, they are still given stares and harsh comments.
