Creating a Logo – July 16

Every brand has a popular logo – be it Gucci or Chanel, when we look at the brands logo, we easily recognize the brand. So we had a small introduction to typography and how the font of the text in a logo can have a vast effect on the audience and how the legibility of the text also play a major role.

Here are a few famous (brand) logos which I looked up at before creating my own:

I really liked the use of an elliptical/circle around the name or symbol of the brand and I decided to incorporate that element while making my logo. Initially I threw around a couple of ideas, a couple of names but nothing really stood out. So I went through my camera roll, until I landed on one photo:

This was a design I had created almost two years ago after reading the Dan Brown book “Inferno”. In the book, when the character Dr. Langdon is analyzing Botticelli’s The Mappa dell’Inferno (Map of Hell), he reads the phrase “CERCA TROVA” – a clue which referred to the painting The Battle of Marciano by Vasari. So ever since then, I was hooked onto the Italian phrase. The phrase Cerca Trova means ‘to seek and find’ and I decided to incorporate it in my logo as it compliments the theme of my dress really well.

Luck is not something that you find easily, be it finding a four-clover or waiting for the clock to strike 11:11 to make that one wish – you can seek luck all you want, but you’ll only find it if it seeks out for you.

Here is a few initial sketches of my logo –

Initially I wanted it to be cursive and very fancy, but then I scraped the idea. Then I wanted to incorporate the idea of two arrows in the center to add a very “fun” feel to the logo. But I didn’t like how the logo became to too long if I added the words on either side of the arrows. So I thought of scraping the arrow completely and doing something different, more modern.

But in the end, I chose to include the arrows in my design. Here is my final sketch:

I incorporated the design I made two years ago on my phone in my logo 😁 And this is the logo:

I really like how it turned out to be with the name around the arrows in the form of a circle and the initials of the brand beside the arrows.
