After watching the three videos on design sustainability and human functionality, I’m more aware of the complexities of good design. There are no universal solutions to designing things with a human or environmentally conscious. Likewise, designing things well requires an amalgamation of intentional decision-making. To create a product that addresses the needs of the environment and the human user, material, application of material, design intuitiveness, and design impulse all must be implemented.
As the first video talked on, a material is more so how you choose to use it rather than what you choose to use. In the second video, the ergonomics of humans create the precedent for the design of products that will be used in daily life (like a can opener). In the last video, design from all practices shows us the versatility of conscious design in terms of efficiency and user practice.
