Loos House Analysis

For the Loos House analysis, each student was assigned a house designed by Loos to study and recreate floor plans, elevations, sections, and axons to 1/4 scale. I was assigned the Rufer House, a home designed in Austria for a musicologists. Rufer House is one of Loos’s smallest houses, but it demonstrates his Raumplan design strategy perfectly. The Ground and Terrace floor serve back-of-house functions, while the 1st and 2nd floor are front-of-house We began our study drawings on velum, and then transferred to Bristol. Eventually, we recreated our drawings digitally on Vectorworks.
