Centralized Generation:
This is a system in which energy is produced in central location and then imported to places where it can be used. The image above explains the way Centralized Generation System works in a literal way; it displays a power plant in the center, distributing the energy through transmission to houses and factories. Centralized Generation system is primarily how energy and electricity is produced in the United States.
Solar Energy:
Solar energy is one the four types of renewable energy amongst biofuel, wind, and hydro power. Solar energy is the most cost-effictive way to produce energy because natural resources such as the sun are being used. This system becomes really convenient in areas where the temperature is high. Installing this system is way cheaper and easier than a centralized power plant. However, some limitations may be during periods where the sun in not shining, for example a rainy week.
Michigan:
Detroit’s O’Shea Solar Park is on elf the largest solar urban solar arrays in the midwest. 7,400 panels that sit on 10 acres and can power up to 450 homes (DTE Energy). Solar energy is how most of power is produced in Michigan. DTE energy has recently been approved to build a natural gas plant that will provide 850,000 home with energy. (Greene) This will also reduce the carbon emission and decrease the amount of energy lost in coal-fired plants.
